This class will utilize photographic materials because of its predominance within contemporary culture. Most supplies will be provided but there may be an additional $20-50 per student in photographic printing costs if students do extra printing or choose to use outside materials.
Students should have a basic understanding of Calculus and High School Algebra.
Geared for students who enjoy writing analytically and exploring philosophical themes. This course is meant for students who excel in their English courses and want a college-level writing course. It serves as an excellent introduction to the kind of close reading, interpretive, and writing skills that undergraduates learn in the College at the University of Chicago. Students should have strong grades in their History and English classes.
This sequence fulfills the general education requirement in civilization studies. Prerequisite: HIST 13200.
