Financial Aid

Limited financial aid is offered to current UChicago undergraduates through the Office of College Aid via the Summer Scholarship program. These partial scholarships help defray the cost of attending Summer Session programs for current UChicago students who receive aid during the academic year.  Summer Scholarships may be applied to all undergraduate programs administered by the Summer Session office: September Term, Summer Language Institute, and Summer Quarter. Information and links to Summer Scholarships are available here.

Current undergraduate students in the College may also be eligible to apply for Summer Pell Grants or Stafford loans for assistance. Contact the Office of Financial Aid at college-aid@uchicago.edu for more information.

Refund Schedule and Withdrawal Deadlines

This is the refund schedule for UChicago students in Summer Quarter and September Term undergraduate courses and programs (including Summer Language Institute).

Refund Schedule

UChicago students who drop a course on or before the relevant deadline will not be billed for that course and the course will not appear on the student’s transcript.

Current UChicago College students may add or drop courses via my.uchicago.edu through May 31. UChicago undergraduates wishing to add or drop a Summer Quarter course after May 31 must submit a request via the Undergraduate Enrollment Change Request form. The date the request is submitted will be used as the effective drop date.

Withdrawing from a course - with a "W" on the transcript
Requests to drop a course submitted after the drop deadline will be processed as a course withdrawal, which means:

  • a “W” will appear as the course grade and
  • 100% of tuition will be billed

The deadline to request a withdrawal from a course is the day before the final exam or before the final project due date.
