Our Residential Staff consists of a Residential Director, Assistant Residential Director, and a team of dedicated Residential Assistants during Summer Session. All staff members are current students or recent graduates of the University of Chicago, which means they are uniquely qualified to advise students on successful transitioning to the UChicago experience. They can advise students on how to find a good work-fun balance, utilize their instructors and teaching assistants as resources, and all of the reasons they enjoy being a UChicago student.
Health and Wellness
UChicago’s two athletic centers include cardio, resistance, and weight training equipment, and an Olympic-sized pool. All students will also have access to the Student Health Service for help with routine or unexpected medical concerns, as well as the Student Counseling Center, if they wish to speak to a counselor while here. Students who cannot prove that they have adequate health care coverage in the U.S. must enroll in UChicago’s University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP), though students who are already have comparable coverage may be able to waive the requirement.
Other Campus Amenities
Our campus also contains a network of libraries that includes the 9th largest research library in North America. Other on-campus attractions include on-campus cafes; Doc Films, the University’s student-run film society; the Smart Museum of Art; and the Oriental Institute, a pioneering Near Eastern studies museum. The campus is also home to the Seminary Co-op, one of the country’s most renowned academic bookstores. Students can also visit the Office of the Reynolds Club and Student Activities website to learn about summer events planned by the University’s student activities office, such as movies on the quad and off-campus excursions, or explore over sixty-four religious and spiritual organizations.
