This course is open to Undergraduate students only. All majors are welcome. There are no strict prerequisites, but a basic understanding of computers and programming is preferred and familiarity with Python is helpful. MS in Applied Data Science students may NOT register for this course.

Students may count either STAT 22000 or 23400, but not both, toward the forty-two credits required for graduation. Students with credit for STAT 23400 not enrolled. This course meets one of the general education requirements in the mathematical sciences.

Students should have experience with programming (preferably Python) and ideally calculus through single variable calculus (AP Calculus AB or equivalent). Students without programming experience must complete a free online Python course before the beginning of the course; information will be available from instructors in the weeks before the course begins.

Students should have a solid background in single-variable calculus and some knowledge of multivariable calculus. UChicago students must have complete MATH 13200, 15200, 16200, or 16210.
