Andrea Ford

PhD student in Cultural Anthropology

Andrea Ford is expecting to receive her PhD in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Chicago in June 2017; her dissertation research on the caregiving relationships surrounding birth is deeply entwined with the effects of urbanization and industrialization. While at the University of Chicago she has taught Power, Identity, and Resistance in the College’s Social Sciences Core curriculum, introductory courses in Gender and Sexuality Studies and Global Studies, and prize-winning upper-division courses The Lived Body and Reproductive Worlds. She has also taught anthropology to advanced high school students in Stanford University’s Pre-Collegiate Studies program. She holds MAs from the University of Chicago and the University of Ghana and a BA (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of California, Berkeley.
