Summer Session Curfew Release Form

This form is to be completed by the parent or guardian for every date the student will be outside the residence hall past designated curfew hours of 10:00pm. An adult must sign the student out from Woodlawn Residential Commons.

Note: This form must be received at least 24 hours prior to the release date.

No permission is necessary for students who will be unsupervised or absent before curfew hours. Please see the Policies section of our website regarding curfew policies and the use of this form.

The Residential Staff plans and leads daily activities for students to get to know each other, the campus, neighborhood, and city of Chicago. A variety of programs are offered, including low and no-cost programs to suit a wide range of interests, from which students can pick and choose. Previous year’s events have included trips to Major League Baseball games, the Taste of Chicago, midnight soccer, museum outings, beach trips, Movies on the Midway, and much more.

Students are allowed to explore the city on their own if they so choose, and navigating the city safely is covered during orientation. Those who choose to do so will be encouraged to travel in groups, informed that they should familiarize themselves with how they will travel to and from their destinations before they leave campus, and ensured that they have means to contact the Residential Program staff in case of an emergency. High school students must check out of the residence hall each time they leave campus, even during the daytime, noting their destination, time of departure, and intended time of return.

All high school students living in the residence hall must be present for nightly curfew sign-in, which our residential staff takes very seriously. Students may not leave the building after curfew unless they are on a residential staff sponsored activity or a verified Parental Curfew Release Form (coming soon) is on file for that evening. Although there is no “lights out” or “bed check,” we do have quiet hours after 10:00 PM.

Possession or use of alcohol or of controlled substances without a doctor’s prescription is strictly prohibited for all residents. Any students who are found to possess, consume, distribute, or be in the presence of alcohol or controlled substances while participating in the program, unless in compliance with a doctor’s prescription, will be subject to immediate dismissal from the program. All students will be expected to self-administer and self-manage their own medications, both prescription and over-the-counter. The Residential Staff is not permitted to manage or administer student medications.
